TJ’s sterling silver and/or gold thimbles come in a variety of sizes, types, and styles. Each is able to be custom fit for comfort and ease in all types of sewing. A favorite phrase heard the day after a fitting is “I was able to sew longer with tinier stitches without perspiring or pain.” My favorite challenge is the quilter who says there is no thimble able to fit or help them. TJ has taught me, “There is a person for every thimble we make.” If you can’t find what you are looking for or we are unable to fit you, please see TJ regarding a new design or size.

Our thimbles are unique and different, making them great gifts for you or your loved ones. My selection of TJ Lane products is unmatched. Should the thimble or product you need be out of stock I will size and mail the item when it arrives. The many quilting supplies and jewelry are made of the finest quality products Thimbles Plus is able to locate. I am able to make the chains to the exact size needed with the correct clasp whether it is a chatelaine necklace or a charm bracelet. I also carry a wide selection of charms specializing in sterling silver and bead teapots I create myself.

Polishing

Keep the shine – use your thimble! Avoid storage in direct sunlight, humidity, rubber bands, acidic cardboard, latex, polishing compounds, and abrasives. Microfiber cloth such as Flitz Microfiber Cloths which are machine washable and dryable (no softener) are recommended. Thimbles Plus provides them with orders over $100.00 or sell 2 sizes depending on your needs.

Guarantee

General Guarantee for Thimbles and Related Jewelry by TJ Lane follows: If you quilt a hole in one of TJ’s thimbles, or break a wire in a needle threader, return it to the address below (see Mailing Instructions) and we will exchange it or repair it. (Please include $10 for postage).

Use a bubble envelope, and put your thimble or item in a container with a tight lid, such as a prescription container. (Film containers are not secure enough.) Use First Class or Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. Include your name, address, instructions, and $10 for return postage.

In 2002 while my friends and I were purchasing our thimbles and ensembles from Tommie Jane we all spoke of my interest of starting a business in the quilter’s realm. Boldly I asked TJ would I be able to join her. After the show she did express a need for an apprentice with the finishing of the thimbles. The work was so rewarding I was soon able to assist her at shows and opened my own retail business selling her products at quilt shows, guild meetings, and private appointments. During my training I worked many shows with Tommie Jane and/or Cynthia as well as vending shows TJ recommended me for. This past year I had well over 30 events. My business grew so quickly TJ and I trained my husband, Alan, as well as my sister, Thomasina, (pictured above on the left of me) to assist.

Tommie Jane (TJ) Lane has been creating jewelry of sterling silver and gold for more than three decades. She soon discovered her real talent and love was in working with quilters to provide lasting thimbles with a comfortable fit. Over the years TJ has kept an open ear and mind to create well over 300 styles of thimbles and other fine sewing items. These wonderful products are treasured by quilting icons and artists throughout the world such as: Jenny Beyer, Alex Anderson, Georgia Bonesteel, Brenda Papadakis, Donna Dewberry, etc, etc.!

Cynthia, TJ’s daughter learned this craft from TJ while she was quite young. Cynthia’s talents and skills with jewelry were put on hold by college, marriage, career, and motherhood. In 2002 she joined her mother in the thimble business part time, and a year later redirected her many skills and talents to focus full time on the thimble business. Cynthia and TJ have trained more assistants in the completion of the products as well as creating a website and vending quilting events across the US.

Here is a picture of one of our favorite quilting teacher and artist, Sherry Leschinsky on the right, with my sister and I wearing our chatelaines. Sherry and I have the distinction of being known as TJ’s ‘Poster Children’. Please get ready to see more of our ‘poster children’ and their quilting creations thanks to the fine products of TJ Lane.

Greetings! Thank you for your prayers and bearing with me during my illness and convalescence this past year. It is November, 2011 and I believe I am now able to do 1-2 day holiday/shop events. Please let me or your favorite shop owner know of any in your area.

I am excited to welcome you to my site. The creation of my company and now this site has been to introduce more quilter’s to the wonderful world of TJ (Tommie Jane) Lane’s custom fitted thimbles and other quality quilter’s products in sterling silver and/or gold. This site is a work in progress. I plan to add more information as I am able so please return often. Here you will find dates and locations for you to be fitted with our thimbles in Upcoming Events. As an added benefit I will include when possible the events of TJ and/or Cynthia Brammeier. Cynthia, TJ’s daughter, is taking the helm of TJ’s business as TJ ‘begins’ her retirement.
